Non-linear PowerPoint
presentations are a fairly easy way to create interactive stories, multiple
choice quizzes, and games. In my own classroom, I have used this tool primarily
to create Jeopardy games which make wonderful reviews and even informal
assessments.
As in the case of many of the other digital tools that I have introduced in this blog, below you will find a picture and a link to a Jeopardy game I have created for use in my own classroom, a lesson plan that accompanies it, and then further resources that offer information regarding developing and using non-linear PowerPoints for yourself.

Description of the ‘relative advantage’ of any
and all technology being used in this instructional activity: Using
technology for this activity relieves the instructor from having to directly
provide the information freeing them up to be able to monitor student
involvement and participation more effectively. This format also
provides students with a visual of the questions that they are being asked,
rather than simply relying on auditory input as was common in a more
traditional approach. It’s also more fun – students love to play this mock
version of Jeopardy and with a SmartBoard, to even take turns physically
selecting the questions and revealing the answers for their classmates!
